The law relating to the fight against violence against women
A definite advance in human rights
The Tunisian Association for the Defense of Individual Freedoms (ADLI), expresses its joy to finally see the law relating to the fight against violence against women adopted by the ARP.
This law reinforces human rights in general and the rights of women and children in particular, constitutes an important step in the implementation of the Constitution of 2014, founded on the principles of equality, dignity and freedom;
This law also consecrates decades of feminist and humanist activism, led by women and men, having believed in the universal values of human rights and in particular the role played by the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women.
This law while constituting a definite evolution of the rights of women and children must be implemented as soon as it is published in the Official Journal, and must also lead to the repeal of a set of unjust and humiliating provisions for women and men. , such as legal obstacles to the free choice of spouse, inheritance inequality, the institution of Head of the family, the penalization of orientations and non-conforming identities….
Adli is certain that thanks to the efforts of all these vestiges of a patriarchal system will soon only provide historical examples ...
